When the world around us feels overwhelming or your everyday four walls just lack a certain special something to them, consider adding a little to bring things to life. Sure we could go all out and paint the walls and rip up the carpet, but we know that a little goes a long way especially when your aim is to make things cozy and fun and unique. Here are our top 10 ways to add more magic into your life with out braking the bank or breaking down any walls.

Discover Loose Teas and Spiced Coffees

Making a cup of coffee my not sound like making magic but you’re over looking one of the oldest forms of fortune telling. Divination can be done with a cup of loose tea and a book of interpretation. Also the tools of tea divination will add magic to a corner of your room with its curious display. And if your morning coffee is starting to taste a little bland, how about adding some spices to it? And no, pumpkin need not apply. Go on, google a recipe and go wild!

Travel, Takes tons of Pictures and Pin ’em Up

You don’t have to take out a loan to travel especially  if your flexible with your vacation days. Log on to flights.gooogle.com to find amazing deals, cheaper than any travel site out there and go! Once you’re there make sure you take tons and tons of pictures, not selfies but actually try to take atmospheric pictures with the intention of hanging ’em up when you get home. You can blow them up and have them printed onto canvas or just regular picture paper, frame them and cover your room with wonderful memories. Plus a little culture to boot.

And if you can’t fly do some research on your nearest large city and plan a weekend get away. Every city no matter where you go can offer great photo-op opportunities including flea-markets, old book shops, waterways, main streets and more. Download and save pictures you find only as inspiration so you can imitate other’s work and get great shots.

Collect and Save old Books from the Rubbish Bin

Books are no longer as wanted as they once were. Bookstore after bookstore are closing and old antique books are getting either tossed in the trashed or gutted for art and crafts projects.  So why not rescue some charming old books and starting a personal home library? Weekend trips to reuse shops, used bookstores and second hand shops will not just produce books of all kinds but you’re bound to find other wonderful curiosities.

Weekend Getaway to the Little Towns

Every city has “little towns” just waiting to be discovered. Little Tokyo, Little Italy, Chinatown and so on are common and easily accessible by any curious local.  Each little town jammed packed with authentic foods and culture, just ask a shop keeper what things are and how to enjoy them and before you know it, you’re enjoying a whole new world of foods, fabrics, arts, desserts and all the endless wonderment of a new little town.

Dive into an International Drive-in

Well not exactly an actual drive-in as they’re not that common anymore, although if you can go to one near you that may still be open, we highly suggest you do, but instead research international sci-fi and fantasy movies. Granted they wont be of the same caliber as American block busters but they can be just as beautiful and full of exotic magic. Aladin from India for example, is a modern Indian take on the classic story. Or the one mentioned here, Saawariya, a beautiful peacock colored romanced fulled of far off magical places.

The Muses and the Arts are Sleeping, Waiting for  your Visit

Muses live in the museum, galleries and live performance stages all around us, waiting to inspire your imagination into life. Grab any journal you have around the house and a pencil then make your way to the nearest muse building to find new wonderful inspiration. No one knows what you’ll find, that’s half the fun just make sure to take down notes, sketch out inspirations and make a list of arts and crafts supplies you’ll need to make your muse kiss a reality.

Stargaze at Midnight or All Around the Clock

If you find yourself outside after the sun goes down consider getting to a dark location and watch the dark sky. In the country you should have a good view of the most popular constellations and an app can help you find the rest. And if your deep in the inner the city you can bring the stars in with poster, star charts and astrolabes. Adding stars to your decor will remind you of such wonderful things like alchemy and fortune telling.

Grow a Window Apothecary of Magical Herbs

You an grow just about anything in window garden, from mushrooms to herbs to flowers or tomatoes, its can be fun and healthy. And if  you set your window box indoors you don’t have to worry about the winter freeze killing your lovely plants. You can grow flowers too and glow in the dark mushrooms, plenty of seeds or are they spores, are available on amazon.

Grab a Basket and Shop your Farmer’s Market

We’ve yet to visit a farmer’s market that didn’t offer fruits, pies, vegetables or crafts we’ve never heard of. See something that grabs your attention but don’t know what it is? Ask the shop keep. And ask how you can prepare it and what’s its name. Write it down and when you get home google how you can use it. We come home every other week with exotic flowers, international finds and local honey to fascinate the pantry.

Write a Letter or five by Hand

It may not seem like much magic but that’s only because you’ve haven’t written a letter by hand since school. And if you we’re born in the 90s, maybe never at all. Don’t worry about your penmanship or how to remember to spell, it’s all about having fun writing a later to an old friend or better to your mother. We’re almost certain your bound to get a real letter in the main in return.

Remember to have fun and never give up on your curiosity!
