While on a Drive From Dickinson to Watford City
Early Summer 2015 North Dakota
A true account of a Timeslip experience, told anonymously
35 Year Old Single Female, Sober
Once, on a clear summer day with the sun at about one o’clock, an endless and cloudless blue sky domed above as to be the very top of the earth herself, I found myself driving north on the 85, alongside the Badlands with a great view of deep canyons. The radio playing classic rock lightly with my windows open so that the sweet summer air full of the scent of wild grass danced all around me when suddenly the music seemed to fade away. In a sudden second as if the world was set on fast forward, the bleack grassland was suddenly overgrown with massive tress whos branches came right up to and over my car. And then for a second, I found myself suddenly blinded by sparkling water reflections that made me squint and raise a hand, as if I was suddenly driving next to nearby ocean. But, I thought for a moment, the nearest river was at the bottom of the canyon and there was no way I could see it from the highway.
So what was causing this blinding reflection when I realized that I was in a kind of ancient world that resembled a lush green land noting like modern day North Dakota. I lowered my hand that was shielding my eyes and let my gaze adjust to the bright flickering when suddenly, there, before me, glittering like diamonds was a deep blue ocean, virgin from any human touch. From what seemed like any modern touch, wind causing its surface to ripple and cast the diamond like reflections.
I was lost in the entire scene in a soundless vacuum for what seemed like minutes but I had to give a heavy blink as my eyes had begun to sting from staring. And in that blink the scene was gone. I was back driving up a deserted highway once more and after pulling over to gather my thoughts, I stared up and down the deserted grassland with no lush trees, or glittering ocean insight. I took a deep breath and reflected in what was the most peaceful and surreal experience I’ve ever had. My very own time slip.
